Summary of Position Description

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner provides detailed and comprehensive assessment and treatment of neonatal patients within the framework of safe patient and family centered care. Scope of practice encompasses the development and recording of a plan for medical and nursing care in collaboration with patient/family, multidisciplinary team members, and community resources for both chronic and episodic illnesses.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Barbara Bush Children's Hospital, Maine Medical Center is recruiting for a hard-working energetic neonatal nurse practitioner to join our team of dedicated professionals.
New grads who have completed their boards are welcome to apply.
Licensure: Current Registered Professional Nurse License in the state of Maine. Current license for Advanced Practice in the state of Maine.
Advanced knowledge of nursing theory and practice, and additional specialized medical training, in order to provide expanded nursing practice at a level generally acquired through completion of concentrated study and clinical internship leading to a Master's Degree.
Education: BSN required, completion of accredited NNP Program, MSN preferred Certification by National Certification Corporation as a NNP NRP instructor
Analytical abilities necessary to obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, prepare complex treatment plans, and provide care for assigned patients with minimal guidance and direction.
Excellence in interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with all MMC departments, families and members of the multidisciplinary health care team.
